Young at Heart

At the end of July we celebrated my dad's birthday with a trip to...wait for it... Pixieland! I know what you're thinking..."Sure, Pixieland is great for a birthday party...if you are turning 5!" Well it is also a great venue for a 62nd birthday as well. You see, my dad used to take my sister and me to Pixieland quite a bit when we were little. It was a special place that only Dad ever took us to (on weekend days when Mom was working), so it felt right to celebrate there with a small picnic and lots of fun.

Riding the carousal with Gramma and Papa Ray. Lorelei loved the carousal (to the point that the adults were dizzy), but only wanted to ride on the benches.

Getting ready to go on a train ride!

Another favorite, driving the cars! Lorelei loved to go fast around the bends and then past the fairytale cottages.

Gramma and Papa Ray having lots of fun!

The Dragon Coaster is the "scariest" ride at Pixieland. Dad and I decided to ride it for "old time's sake"--and it was surprisingly fun the first two times around the track, the next three loops were just jerky (clearly we are both getting old). Lorelei cried the whole time we were on the ride and Gramma had to walk away (after snapping a few pics) to try and calm her down.

Happy Birthday, Dad!! We love you!
