Just Arrived
On the morning of Sunday, September 20th, Steve and I woke up to a big surprise-- my water broke 3 weeks before our due date! After an initial few moments of disbelief and panic ("But I'm not ready! I was supposed to have 3 more weeks!") we got ourselves together, double checked our hospital list, and called Labor and Delivery. Contractions started at 7:15 AM and came on strong from the beginning. We left for the hospital (I was so grateful to not have a long car ride or tunnel traffic to worry about) and arrived shortly thereafter in the parking lot. We seemed to spend a lot of time in triage while they debated whether or not I was in active labor. I was finally checked and was at 6 cm--definitely a keeper. A short while later (and two failed attempts to start an epidural) Lorelei was born at 11:47 AM. Steve was an amazing labor coach--calm, collected, and focused on my needs during my fast and furious labor. Below are some of my favorite pictures from that very special day.
As we were walking out the door. The last of the baby bump photos!
