Bocce Party

My dad recently turned 60 and we threw him a small surprise party at Campo di Bocce in Livermore. It was the perfect venue--we played bocce for 1.5 hours before settling down into a delicious, family style Italian meal. My dad was totally surprised and had a great time. The awesome photographs featured below were taken by my talented brother-in-law, Steve. I wish I could post them all--he really captured the spirit of the event and took lots of candids!

Arriving at Campo di Bocce after a very confusing car ride where apparently my dad was informed that I had experienced a kitchen disaster, preventing me from having him over for dinner, and necessitating a last minute restaurant reservation.
The birthday boy and his wonderful wife!
Annie and her husband, Steve, our photographer for the evening.

Strategizing over the next toss.

We took our game very seriously ;)

Annie rubs the belly for good luck before her turn.

We did have a lot of fun! So, Steve did not bring the tape measure, there is one at each court. Steve was just hoping that the men's ball was closer to the pallino than the women's. (The girls won the game by a landslide!)
