Road Trip

In early November we took Lorelei on her first road trip adventure to meet her great-grandparents in Rio Verde, Arizona. She was only 6 weeks old! This trip was especially important to us as Great-Grandma Doris is no longer able to travel and very much wanted to meet her first great-grandchild. Great-Grandpa George and Great-Grandma Doris both fell instantly in love with her. Lorelei also met my cousin Kristen (who will be Aunt Kristen to Lorelei).

Steve and I decided to drive to Phoenix with Lorelei because we felt that the airlines would expose her to too many germs. We allowed two days of travel each way, staying overnight at a hotel with a two day stay at my grandparents. We knew it would be exhausting and involve lots of stops. Lorelei was a great traveler and most of the time looked like this (thank goodness she likes her car seat):

However, there was one particularly memorable stop on the way home which resulted in the following:

Yes, the above picture includes both a massive spitup and an epic blowout. This is how Lorelei felt about it:
Fortunately, by this time Steve was an expert at back of the car changes and all was well in the end. He actually created a very cozy little changing spot for Lorelei on top of comfy cushion wrapped in a soft blanket. All better!

Some further comforting from mom before heading back on the road.
