UC Davis Picnic Day

Last Saturday we attended Picnic Day at UC Davis. It was so much fun to attend with Lorelei now that she can interact with the event.  Since Lorelei gets up super early anyways (see previous post), we decided to simply get up at the normal time (well, we did sleep in a bit), get dressed and make our way up to Davis. We were able to see part of the parade--Lorelei especially liked the bands (The Band-Uh and the Alumni Band-Uh). Then we wandered over to the Children's Faire (a part of Picnic Day we'd never before paid attention to) and watched as Lorelei explored the bubbles and water tables, picked out a monkey "tattoo", and (sort of) colored a picture of the Egyptian pyramids. Then it was time to head over to the track and meet up with friends and Steve's former teammates. It was great to catch up with everyone and I only wish we all lived closer--play dates would be so much fun with all the cute kids. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day.

The bubble tables were a favorite at the children's fair. Lorelei got very wet and soapy.

The water table filled with ocean toys was also a big hit. Lorelei received a
monkey "tattoo" and showed it off all day long, pointing and saying "monkey!".

Stevo ran the Alumni Mile along with his former track pals.
This is just after the start when everyone is still looking fresh.

Lorelei watched the race from the sidelines this year.

Grandma Elly and Papa Bob came to the track for a visit.

Track Dads and babies. To quote Ryan "The times they are a changin'...and so are our running times."

There was a lull in the action while we waited for the alumni lunch to begin. Lorelei was such a trooper--she kept putting "Baby" to bed, and even laid down herself once. Clearly it was past nap time, but when askedif she wanted to go night, night, she said "noooo" and shook her head.  Once we finally leftand made it back to the car, Lorelei lasted about a block before she was out solid for the ride home.

Two cool gals in their white sunnies.
