Yep! She's our girl!
Just like Daddy... Lorelei loves to help do projects and work with tools! One of her favorite places to go is outside to visit the shed where she looks at all of Daddy's toys. In fact, as soon as we get in the driveway I typically here a chorus of "Daddy! Shed! Daddy! Shed!" from the back seat.
Just like Mommy... Lorelei loves to snuggle up in her comfy chair and read. She also enjoys our library trips and, on tiptoe, can push the library books through the return slot. She knows just where the little tables, chairs, and toys are at the local branch, but seems to think that she has already outgrown the board book section, heading directly for the long picture books and chapter books which she then "reads" at the kid tables.
The 18 Month Stats:
Height-- 31.75 inches (58th percentile)
Weight--22 pounds (20th percentile)
Favorite Food: Toast Lorelei asks for toast at nearly every meal. Any kind of bread, dry, butter, jam, or other toppings--it is all great to her. I think part of the allure is watching our toaster oven heat up, glow orange, and then getting to blow on the "hot" toast. But then again, she asks for toast everywhere, toaster oven or not. Overall, she is an amazing eater and happily eats all sorts of food.
Favorite Color: Orange She still chooses that orange ring at every swim lesson. Last week there was a substitute teacher who handed her the green ring and Lorelei refused to dive for it.
Favorite Item of Clothing: Shoes (with hair bows a close second). There is no doubt that this girl loves footwear. When I pick her up at daycare she says "Shoes!" and races past me to grab her shoes. During the rainy season one of the other kids had a pair of green frog rain boots that she liked because during pick up time she'd stop at the boots, point to them, say "Boots!" and smile really big before picking them up to claim them as her own. The fact that they were about 2 times the size of her foot was no deterrent--after all, she regularly attempts to wear my shoes as well.
Exciting Events:
1. stacking 8 wooden blocks, then knocking them over
2. stringing three words together "Outside! Let's go!"
3. determining that it doesn't matter how long the cheerio was in the car seat, it is still edible
4. sleeping through the night (well until 5 AM) Update: Of course last night, after I posted this, we had a terrible night, up at 2 AM, with a really difficult time settling back down, waking up again, etc. It should be noted that Lorelei knows the word "coffee".
5. learning to close the bedroom door, learning to open the bedroom door
| Lorelei helps Steve add trim to the window in her room so that we can hang her new ruffle curtains. |
